Condensate is mositure within the air which gathers together on cold surfaces and forms into water, which needs to be drained away. When air conditioning systems are in operating in cooling mode, they generate condensate on the indoor unit (evaporator) which needs to be removed. This can be done in various ways, often being drained away by pipes or hoses running vertically downwards outside the property. As water will not run upwards naturally, if the drainage requires the pipework to go through a property, a condensate pump will be required to push the water to the destination you need it to reach.
